*Update v3 - Nov 26, 2008: I made some majors updates to this in the beginning of summer and I never uploaded the updated version until now. The organic materials are fresher and more balanced. Plus the trees on the sides look much more polished and less computer generated. I am happy with this final design.

*Update v2 - Added much more detail to the organic work and created a semi-live version with music, a preloader, and a little fading intro. Nothing special, just some eye/ear candy for those who want to understand the idea in my head a little better.

Old info...

This is my tropical beach resort template. I really just did this for fun. I wanted to make something visually pleasing that had a simple look to it. Blue is for the ocean and the beach obviously, and the tan is for sand. I almost didn't include the organic work, but It felt like it made it more 'tropical' at first sight if there was some green on there. The header was a lot of fun, there is a subtle glossy bar behind it, and the navigation is sleek-ish with some water inside the current page's button. I started this whole design with the footer's glow and shadow corners, then I gave it color and it turned into this over time. I finished most of the design a while ago, but I had some time tonight and I finished it up.

+favs & comments are greatly appreciated.

Peace :)

haha, it isn't exactly. That's more of a technical rule, I never really agreed with it tbh, but thanks for the input ;)

pretty cool tim, and for once I even like the music. A couple drop shadow issues making things blurry and the seashells arent easilly recognizable but really thats just arguable depending on how you look at it. great stuff as usual.

Thanks vern, I appreciate it. :) Yeah, the seashells are a little off, but I worked with it for a while and was happiest with how they look now.

I thought about a star fish actually, but it was just too distracting. I'm pretty satisfied overall with the design though. :)

nice update my friend :)

I was wandering, if you could give me some tips on flash coding, or send me in the right direction, I've had ago at it before but never seem to be able to get the hang of it, and cant really find any beginner friendly tutorials.

If your too busy then dont worry, but if you can I would really apreciate it ^_^

thanks alot,

-ash

Hey asher, thanks for the kind words :)

I honestly don't use flash anymore. I think this design was one of the last times I used it for anything, I'm really just into Photoshop now days. Basically I'm not the best resource for flash, especially since I don't use it much anymore.

I think you should check out the lynda.com tutorials though, they have some amazing stuff for flash. ;)

The base is hidden behind the template. That's why I chose curvy trees ;)

Some of it I use from pre-written scripts, but most of I of coded by hand.

Nice transitions. But I don't know why you would steal/rip my preloader and then show it to me :P

Ok, wait a second.

That one time you did steel from Elemental's interface, and it is still in your gallery even though you denied that there were parts from his design :P I don't care about that one anymore, but that is my preloader in that flash peice you just showed me.

Look at this: [link]

Notice the preloader.

Look at the link you just showed me. Same preloader that I made. I remember creating the animation sequence and writing the actionscript for it. I don't know if you are just trying to get me to notice it or what, but it is extremely obvious.

Do you honestly deny it? Did you just happen to make a preloader with the exact same fading effect and animation as mine? I know that you can rip swfs, there are a bunch of programs that do it. Eltima Flash Decompiler, Sothink SWF Decompiler, etc... I am not an idiot :P Just don't expect me to say nothing when you give me a link to a page with something I made in it and claiming it as yours :P You have my right click context menu as well, although I did a tutorial on that :P But you even have it organized the same way as mine, the only difference is the names. "Contact via Email", etc.

I don't want to be mean to you because I really do like some of your designs (the ones you make on your own, if there are any :P ), but you have to stop stealing stuff without giving credit. Ripping is sometimes ok if you are trying to learn, but posting work online and claiming it as your own is illegal and immoral.

You aren't the first one to steal works from others, it happens all the time, but don't deny it when you are caught red handed :P

Looks great! However, the headings need to stand out more and the logo is a tad too understated.
