*Please watch my new account! I had nearly 40 thousand page views, 550+ watchers, and 1,100+ favs, and one Daily Deviation. I hope to recover from this as quickly as possible though.


This account has essentially the same purpose as my old "krazytim" account, with the exception that I might post some other kinds of art work on here, but it will still mostly consist of web and interface designs, so if you watched me before, you should definitely watch me again. A few people asked me if this was going to be an account for photography or something else, and it isn't, as least not primarily. I will be uploading all of my favorite designs to this new account, and then everything else that I ever uploaded before will be available to see in my scrapbook. This includes the scraps posted on my "krazytim" account, the deviations that I posted in my main gallery that I don't want to upload as a main feature on my new account, and lastly, a bunch of old, random images and concepts that I never uploaded before. So this new account will have every last deviation posted before, as well as a bunch of newly posted old works, and of course, new stuff!


This is hard to explain for the simple fact that it is too easy to explain it and I struggle to find where to start. I have three main reasons for all who are curious. Otherwise, don't read this next paragraph.

First of all, (1) the alias is unprofessional, unflattering, and it does not represent me or my work. I'm really just ready to move on and use something more professional and presentable. Secondly, (2) the Internet is pretty much permanent, so if I'm thinking long term, I don't want to be stuck with "Kr4Zyt1m!!_!@" for the rest of my life. The origin of my old alias "krazytim" doesn't have any depth or relevance. In fact, I don't understand why I waited so long to change this, it has been on my mind for nearly three years now from what I can remember. Lastly, (3) I just want to be known as 'Tim Silva' within the design community. I don't see the need to have an alias. Plus, it will flow with my domain name (which will also be undergoing drastic changes very soon). I have a fairly large picture painted in my head as to where I am going, and this new account is just the first step.


I will leave this account as it is for archival purposes (+favs, comments, views, etc). There is no reason to delete the account or the deviations, but I won't be submitting anything new under this account anymore since it is obsolete.


Just to confirm this to everyone; NO, DeviantART does not allow username changes. I looked into this several times, and it is pretty conclusive. They won't be adding this feature any time soon and they don't plan on doing it ever. With that said, I hope no one else ever makes the mistake I did by choosing a bad alias and using it for way too long. More info here: help.deviantart.com/112/

I'm Still Alive - November 26, 2008

It's been a while since I've posted anything on here. I moved away from my home town in September, so I have just been busy pursuing other things in my life that I have neglected for the past few years. I have gone through lots of changes, some good, some bad, all for the better though.

I have lots of new designs to upload, so I will be slowly uploading them over the next few weeks. I have some personal projects starting up soon, including a new portfolio site, a massive update on a certain WinAMP skin that some of you might have heard about, plus I might be taking a new direction with my website on both a personal and professional level. I have had some great ideas upstairs for almost a year now, and I plan to act on them as soon as I have the time & energy to get started.

The main point of this journal is to let all of you know that I'm still alive and kicking, I've just been extremely busy in all aspects of life.

I will be making waves soon enough.

In short: Encide is an underground community of designers, developers, and friends who have thoughtfully crafted a relaxing, youthful, and progressive environment.



Encide.net is a forum based on a core group of members who have come from some of the coolest design communities that ever been around. We initially came from mished.net (no longer online) and migrated over to oxiforum.com (no longer online) for a short period of time before moving to encide. Many of us came from deviantART, Shiver7, Devay, Billy Bussey, The Dream Art, Effectica, and so on... We all had similar interests and we just naturally formed together over time.

The point of this site is to have a fun place for people to hang out at, while maintaining a mature drive behind the work we produce both professionally and for fun. If you want to improve your design skills, development skills, or anything really, this place is perfect for you. If you want help with your work, we will jump right in there and tear it apart and get you going in the right direction. Plus, we're friendly, so there's nothing to be afraid of. Constructive criticism is meant to be constructive, so that's what we will do for you.

We have an impressive tutorials & resources center with items that are actually helpful and full of useful information and secrets. Everything is completely free and open. Our site is strongly against advertisements, so you won't be seeing any annoying Google Ads banners or anything distracting any time soon.

Underground? We use the word “underground” because it reflects our ethics and morals regarding the internet very clearly. This is something you will understand over time. Our design is simple, clean, and to the point. Out of respect for the community, we have a look that is far from the generic, depressing overkill that most “GFX-FORUMZ” have. -- we are professional yet fun, skillful yet simple, friendly yet honest. If you want to join, then you are the right kind of person for our family.

Daily Deviation for KrazyPlayer!

I am extremely proud to have earned a daily deviation for KrazyPlayer. It was the 1st place winner in a winamp skinning contest, and the DD was one of the prizes. We have big plans for this skin, and the huge release hasn't actually happened yet. The one released on DeviantART was just v1, the next one will have more modes, more customization options, and an extensive list of updates, fixes, and features will be taken care of as well. So stay tuned and enjoy the current version for now

Store!

I am releasing a store on my website. I have created two new products to kick off its release. The first is a 30 video tutorial with audio of myself narrating ever that is going on inside Photoshop which explains how to create sleek boxes and interfaces. I want to stress the amount of details that were put into the tutorial > I cover everything. Source files and bonus suggestions and ideas are included as well. The second is the content box from the sleekBlack v3 interface. I cleaned up the folders and put together a very clean, easy to understand source file that will visually and progressively explain how I created the interface. Everything is uncompressed, and nothing was deleted or left out that would offer you some help in understanding how I created something. Both of the products are themed around my sleek style, and the highly compliment each other, but I plan to make some products in other areas shortly. Find out the details by click the previews:

21 Thousand Views!

I meant to make this journal when I got 20,000 views, but I kinda missed the opportunity, so I thought I'd wait for 21 as its the next best thing. I just wanted to say thanks to all my watchers and friends. I'm not a big fan of the journals saying how many views people have, but I think 21 is a special enough number. I'm officially a proud DA-trend-whore now
